I just started with Go some weeks ago and i don't know much about Joseki and how to invade etc. .
Although i won this game in the end(with some luck) , it felt like i was allways behind. Please give me some advice when, where and how to start an invasion. And also please tell me when i played stupid and how to do it better :)
Hi Thargahs,
My name is Leo and I play as 3k on KGS. I will have a look at your game and leave some comments to provide you with some ideas how to improve your game.
Summary:
In the beginning White focussed on building a solid formation on the left side while Black got positions on the upper and lower side. White split them on the right side but the extension was a bit too far (move 16) and Black had a good chance to split White's stones and attack two White groups at the same time. But he did not use it and White instead found a way to strengthen both groups till move 33.
Next White played one more move for the left side and Black finally attacked the groups on the right and fully surrounded White and at the same time made very good influence to build a big territory on the lower side (till move 57). Afterwards Black reduced White's left side territory. Next White build some center territory but at the same time allowed Black to make even bigger territory at the bottom.
The game was decided suprisingly when White successfully exploited the shortage of liberties of Black's left group. At that point the game was a bit better for Black. But even without Black's major mistake White would have had a chance to win the game playing very good end game.
If there is only one thing to learn from this game I would kindly ask you to have a deeper look at the shape that arised at move 73 and could have arised after move 28 if Black had played Q15. You should try to avoid creating this kind of situation in your next games.
I hope you will enjoy the review. Good luck for your next games!
